Ref is a clever male ball python born on August 18, 2007.

Ref is ready for adoption!

When we took this latest set of photos (from 2007-01-04) Ref was unfazed by our movements and would actually come toward the camera as I was making my shots. When Ref is nervous, you know it because he raises himself up and faces the "threat," waiting to see what it'll do. This is unlike other ball pythons we've seen/owned/taken care of/read about that generally try to remove themselves from a stressful situation.

At 255 grams Ref is pretty big for a five month old, and he shows no sign of slowing down, enjoying frozen-thawed rat pups. Here are some pictures of the lil' tough-guy.

On his return trip from the vet's to get sexed, Ref was able to escape from the sock we had him bundled in through a tiny hole in the toe. Thus he earned the name "Ref the Sly" from the Icelandic saga about the man of the same name.

Once he gets to feeding regularly he will be looking for a home ... sometime in October probably.

Here are some more pictures -- these from 2007-11-04. Ref has turned into quite a ferocious eater. He's looking for a home now. He weighs 104 grams and doesn't act like he's going to stop any time soon. He prefers frozen to live food, which is sometimes a little backwards for ball python babies, but there you go. contact us for more info.
